1929 School Play, ”Pygmalion” by Bernard Shaw

A leading part was played in this production by the young Clifford Evans ,later to have a very successful career in Stage and Film. Clifford ( 1911 – 1985 ) was a pupil at the school from 1923 to 1929. After passing his School Certificate Examination he left his home in Capel Road, Llanelli, to travel to London to begin his studies in London  at RADA ( Royal Academy of Dramatic Art ).

He was cast in the play by Dr. Afon Jones, Latin Teacher and Morgan Rees, who both encouraged Clifford to pursue a career as an actor having recognised his potential..

The Headteacher was Griff J Thomas M.A.. who was  an Oxford Scholar in Modern Languages and Classics, born 1871,died 1966 ( age 95 ) He was the Headteacher 1917 to 1937.
