Clifford Evans was a pupil at the school from 1923 to 1928.Headteacher at the time was Griff J Thomas ( 1917 to 1937 ).

Clifford appeared in leading roles in school plays from 1926 to 1928, and appreciating his potential two teachers – Dr. Afan Jones and Morgan Rees were instrumental in encouraging him to pursue an acting career.
