1927,School Play, The Good Natured Man by Oliver Goldsmiths

 

 

A leading part was played in this production by the young Clifford Evans – later to have a very successful career in stage and Film. Clifford ( 1911 to 1985 ) was a pupil at the school from 1923 to 1929. After passing his School Certificate Examinations  he left his home in Capel Road, Llanelli, to travel to London to begin his studies at RADA ( Royal Academy of Dramatic Art ).

He was cast in the play by Dr. Afan Jones, Latin teacher and Morgan Rees , who also gave him confidence to pursue a career as an actor. an actor. The Headteacher was Griff J Thomas M.A. Mr. Thomas from 1917 to 1937., an Oxford Scholar in Modern Languages & the Classics. Also of interest he was born 1871,died 1966,age 95 , and a strong supporter of the OBU .
