1928 School Play, ”The Admirable Crichton” by Barrie

 

 

A leading part was played in this production by the young Clifford Evans who later had a very successful career in Stage and Film . Clifford ( 1911 – 1985) was a pupil at the school from 1923 to 1929. After passing his School Certificate Examinations ,he left his home in Capel Road, Llanelli, to travel to London, to continue his studies at RADA, ( Royal Academy of Dramatic Art ). He was encouraged to act in the school plays by Dr. Afon Jones the Latin teacher and Morgan Rees ,both encouraged Clifford to pursue an acting career.

The Headteacher was Griff J Thomas, M.A., an Oxford Scholar in Modern Language and Classics. Head from 1917 to 1937, Born 1871,died 1966 ( age 95 !)
