An excellent Annual Reunion Dinner was held at the Stradey Park Hotel.

We were pleased to have as our  Guest Speaker Emeritus Professor Stuart Cole CBE., a former Pupil who entered the School in 1959.

Professor-Stuart-ColeProfessor Stuart Cole is Emeritus Professor of Transport at the University of South Wales. He was appointed CBE in in the Queen’s Birthday Honours in June 2012. He has nearly 40 years of experience of relevant and practical solutions to transport and planning policy spanning government, local government, private sector and academic roles and a working knowledge of transport in Wales, UK, Europe and North America, China and India.

He is acknowledged by Parliament, the National Assembly and Government as one of the leading experts in Wales and the UK in transport economics and policy and has given evidence and produced reports for the National Assembly for Wales, the Welsh Government, the Silk Commission, House of Commons, 10 Downing Street and the European Commission.

He provides advice and researches and develops policy changes on railways, public transport, air services, integrated transport policy, evaluation techniques for public transport services, and schools transport. Subjects on which he has recently researched and played an advisory role in Wales include: the South Wales Main Line electrification; Cardiff Airport – the Davies Commission submission, the Rail link / M4 road link and the Express review; M4 alternative capacity increases; the Cardiff City Region Metro; the TrawsCymru national bus network; the Bwcabus rural transport project; Integrated transport / new rail franchise; new mechanisms – rural public transport provision; Active Travel cycling, walking, public transport.

He is a regular braodcaster on BBC Radio Wales, Radio Cymru, Radio 4, Radio 5 Live, BBC One tv, S4C, and ITV Cymru Wales and is a Western Mail Transport Columnist (Wales in Motion).
